Short answer To send money from Qatar to Pakistan, use a bank or exchange service supervised by Qatar Central Bank. A transfer can go to a Pakistani bank account, and some services also offer cash pickup or a mobile wallet. Compare the final rupee amount, not only the advertised fee, and keep the transaction reference until the receiver confirms payment.
At a glance
- Online and app option: Western Union’s Qatar service is offered through Alfardan Exchange. It accepts a Qatar-issued debit card online and offers cash or bank payout where available.
- At an agent: Western Union says the sender must show a valid Qatar Civil ID and receives an MTCN tracking number.
- For a Pakistani bank account: Western Union’s Qatar bank-transfer table lists PKR payout and asks for the account number or IBAN plus the branch name and address.
- From a Qatar bank: QNB says its internet and mobile banking can send international transfers to QNB and non-QNB accounts.
- Pakistan-side rule: SBP’s home-remittance reimbursement scheme applies from a minimum equivalent of US$200. That rule does not set the fee or exchange rate charged in Qatar.

Qatar Central Bank says its licensing section oversees licensing and ongoing licensing matters for financial institutions under its supervision. Before sending, check that the bank or exchange house is operating under the QCB framework. Do not hand cash to an informal intermediary who cannot give you a system-generated receipt.

For a transfer to a Pakistani bank account, ask the receiver to copy the details from their bank app, statement or IBAN certificate:
Western Union’s Qatar bank-transfer table lists Pakistan in PKR and asks for an IBAN or account number plus the branch name and address. Entering one digit incorrectly can send money to the wrong account or delay the transfer.
You can check the bank’s SWIFT/BIC in our Pakistani bank-code directory. A SWIFT code identifies the bank; it is not the receiver’s personal account number. For help with the account format, see what an IBAN is.
Western Union’s Qatar instructions give this sequence:
QNB customers can start an international transfer in internet or mobile banking. The bank’s public page says transfers to non-QNB accounts are supported and international transfers are processed within two business days.
A provider’s estimated time is not a guarantee. Compliance checks, public holidays, incorrect details and the receiver’s bank can add time.
Western Union says an agent-location sender in Qatar should provide a valid Qatar Civil ID, the receiver’s first and last name, the destination country and the amount. The sender chooses the payout method available for Pakistan, pays, and receives a receipt with an MTCN.
Before leaving the counter, check:
Share the reference number privately with the receiver. Do not post it publicly.
Bank deposit is useful when the receiver has an active Pakistani account and can provide a verified IBAN. It leaves a clear transaction trail and avoids a trip to a cash counter.
Cash pickup can work for a receiver without a bank account, if the Qatar provider offers that option for Pakistan. The receiver normally needs a valid identity document and the transfer reference. Ask the provider which Pakistani payout agents are available before paying.
Western Union’s general Qatar instructions say mobile-wallet payout may be available depending on the receiver’s country. Do not assume that every Pakistani wallet or account level is eligible. Confirm the exact wallet, registered number and limit in the checkout screen.

A zero or low transfer fee does not necessarily make a transfer cheaper. The provider can earn money through the exchange-rate margin.
Compare providers using the same QAR amount at roughly the same time:
| Check | What to record |
|---|---|
| Amount you pay | QAR total, including fees |
| Exchange rate | QAR to PKR rate in the quote |
| Amount received | Exact PKR shown before confirmation |
| Payout method | Bank, cash or wallet |
| Delivery estimate | Minutes, hours or banking days |
| Cancellation terms | What happens before and after payout |
The most useful comparison is PKR received for the same total QAR paid. Quotes can move, so take the final checkout figure rather than an old screenshot or a search result.
SBP EPD Circular Letter No. 04 of 2025 raised the minimum eligible transaction under Pakistan’s reimbursement of telegraphic-transfer charges scheme to the equivalent of US$200, effective July 1, 2025. It also included exchange companies in the scheme.
This threshold belongs to Pakistan’s reimbursement rules. It does not mean every Qatar transfer of US$200 or more has no fee, and it does not fix the QAR/PKR exchange rate. The sender should still read the Qatar provider’s final quote.
Keep the receipt and reference number. Western Union uses the MTCN for tracking. For a bank transfer, also keep the date, amount, receiver’s IBAN and any bank reference.
If the money is late:
Do not send a second transfer until you know what happened to the first one.
Yes. Western Union’s Qatar bank-transfer table lists Pakistan in PKR and asks for an IBAN or account number plus the branch name and address. QNB also says its digital banking supports international transfers to non-QNB accounts.
Western Union says a sender at an agent location must provide a valid Qatar Civil ID. Other banks and exchange houses may ask for additional verification.
It depends on the provider and payout method. Western Union shows a delivery estimate during the transfer. QNB says international transfers are processed within two business days. Compliance checks and banking holidays can take longer.
Do not assume so. A provider may charge a fee, apply an exchange-rate margin or both. SBP’s US$200 threshold concerns Pakistan’s reimbursement scheme and does not control the fee charged in Qatar.
