Raast Transfer Not Received: What to Check and How to Complain

A Raast transfer not received needs a status check before you send the money again.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) requires a successful Raast person-to-person transfer to be credited within 20 seconds after the receiving institution gets the credit advice. If the transfer is rejected, your bank or payment provider should tell you why rather than hold the funds in its own account.

This guide explains what the status means, what evidence to save, and where to complain. It does not replace the transaction record held by your bank or wallet provider.

First, check whether the transfer says successful, pending or failed

Open the sending bank or wallet’s transaction history and look for the exact status. Do not rely only on a push notification or the recipient’s app home screen.

Status shown What to check next
Successful Match the amount, date, recipient name or Raast ID, and transaction/reference ID. Ask the recipient to check the linked account statement, not only the app balance tile.
Pending or processing Save a screenshot and the reference ID. Contact the sending provider before trying again.
Failed or rejected Check the stated reason and confirm whether the debit was reversed. SBP’s Raast instructions say a rejected transaction should carry the reason for rejection.
Debited but no clear status Treat it as unresolved. Ask the sending provider to trace the transaction using its reference ID.

A successful Raast transfer should appear in both the sender’s and receiver’s statements, and both sides should receive confirmation through their institution’s usual channel. The official 20-second rule refers to credit after the receiving institution gets the Raast credit advice; it does not guarantee that every app screen or notification refreshes at exactly the same moment.

Do not send the same payment again yet

A second transfer can create a duplicate payment if the first one arrives late or the recipient checks the wrong linked account. Before retrying:

  1. Confirm the recipient’s mobile number, IBAN or Raast ID.
  2. Check whether that Raast ID is linked to the account the recipient is viewing.
  3. Compare the recipient name shown before confirmation with the intended recipient.
  4. Record the amount, transaction time and reference ID.
  5. Ask the sending provider whether the transaction was successful, rejected or still being traced.

For the basics of linking and using an ID, see How Raast works in Pakistan. If the issue concerns recovery after money reached the wrong account, read Can a bank transfer be reversed?.

Evidence to save before you complain

Keep a small case file. It makes a trace request easier and reduces back-and-forth:

  • transaction or reference ID;
  • sending bank or wallet name;
  • amount and exact date and time;
  • sender account or wallet identifier, with unnecessary digits masked in screenshots;
  • recipient name and the Raast ID, IBAN or mobile number used;
  • screenshot of the transaction status;
  • the relevant account statement entry;
  • any complaint number already issued by the provider.

Never share your PIN, password, card PIN, one-time password or full card security code. A legitimate complaint investigation does not require those secrets.

Contact the sending bank or wallet first

The sending institution is the first place to raise the trace because it created the transaction and can see its system status. Use its official in-app support, branch, helpline or complaint channel. State the issue plainly: the account was debited, the recipient has not received the money, and you need the Raast transaction traced.

Ask for a complaint or ticket number and the expected response time. If the institution says the transfer succeeded, ask it to confirm the receiving institution and the transaction reference so the recipient can raise a matching query with their own bank.

SBP’s Raast circular says participating institutions must not hold customer funds in their own accounts. That rule is important when a provider cannot explain a debit or leaves the status unresolved.

Escalate an unresolved complaint through the official channel

SBP’s Sunwai portal is the central complaint route for banking consumers. Its guidance says customers should first lodge the complaint with the bank or regulated institution. If the matter remains unresolved, the appropriate escalation depends on the institution and complaint type; the portal routes the complaint to the relevant forum.

Use the official SBP Sunwai portal and read its current frequently asked questions before submitting. Include the provider complaint number and the evidence listed above. Do not upload unrelated personal records.

If the recipient uses a wallet

The same evidence rule applies to wallets: identify the sending provider, recipient identifier, transaction reference and exact status. Use only support details displayed in the provider’s official app or website. A social-media reply asking for a PIN or one-time password is not a safe complaint route.

For provider-specific escalation steps, see the site’s wallet complaint guides, including Easypaisa complaints and JazzCash complaints, when they match the wallet involved.

Quick decision checklist

  • Successful, recipient cannot see it: verify the linked account and ask the sending provider to trace the reference.
  • Pending: do not resend; contact the sending provider and keep the ticket number.
  • Rejected: read the reason and confirm the debit was reversed.
  • Debited with no clear result: raise a formal complaint with the sending provider.
  • Provider complaint unresolved: escalate through the current Sunwai route with the original complaint number.

Questions

How long should a Raast transfer take?

Under SBP’s Raast P2P service instructions, a successful credit should reach the recipient within 20 seconds after the receiving institution gets the credit advice. A delayed notification or stale app screen is not, by itself, proof that the bank did not credit the account, so check the statement and transaction status.

Can a bank keep a failed Raast transfer?

SBP’s instructions say participating institutions must not hold customer funds in their own accounts. If a debit remains unexplained, raise a trace and formal complaint with the sending provider.

Should I send the money again?

Not until the first transfer’s status is clear. A retry can create a duplicate payment.

Where do I complain?

Start with the sending bank or wallet and obtain a complaint number. If it remains unresolved, use SBP’s Sunwai portal and follow the route it provides for the institution and complaint type.
