UBL SWIFT code: UNILPKKA

Short answer The UBL SWIFT code is UNILPKKA for United Bank Limited, Pakistan. UBL prints this 8-character code in its settlement instructions and repeated it on its official LinkedIn page in June 2026. The bank does not publish an 11-character form or separate SWIFT codes for its branches.

Where the code comes from

UBL prints its SWIFT code at the foot of its list of standard settlement banks, a document from its Financial Institutions Group hosted on ubldigital.com: “Swift: UNILPKKA”. The document is not dated and still gives the bank’s old web address, so we checked the code against a current UBL source too. On its official LinkedIn page on June 20, 2026, UBL wrote: “Next time you need to transfer funds globally, remember UBL’s code: UNILPKKA.”

The first four letters, UNIL, are also the bank code inside every UBL IBAN.

Is there a separate code for each UBL branch?

UBL does not publish branch-level SWIFT codes, and we found no UBL page that gives an 11-character form such as UNILPKKAXXX. Code-lookup websites list 11-character codes for some UBL offices, but the bank does not confirm them on its own site, so we don’t repeat them.

UBL’s Roshan Digital Account FAQ has a question on the SWIFT code for sending money to that account, but the answer did not display when we checked. If you hold a Roshan Digital Account (RDA), ask UBL for the RDA routing details before the money is sent.

If a sender’s bank insists on an 11-character code, call the UBL Contact Center on 021-111-825-888 first.

SWIFT code and IBAN are different

The SWIFT code identifies the bank. The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) identifies your own account. A sender abroad usually needs both.

UBL describes its Pakistani IBAN this way:

UBL’s own example: existing account number 094910113152 becomes the IBAN PK-16-UNIL-01-12-094910113152. UBL writes the sample with dashes for clarity. This is the bank’s sample, not a real account.

UBL says your IBAN is shown on your bank statement, and that you can also get it from your branch or the UBL Contact Center on 021-111-825-888. UBL also has an online IBAN Converter ↗.

Receiving money from abroad

For money sent straight into a bank account, UBL’s home remittance FAQ says to give the sender:

  • account title
  • account number with branch code, or IBAN
  • bank name in Pakistan

For a bank transfer through SWIFT, the sender will also need UNILPKKA.

UBL says its home remittance services come “without any additional charges”. It lists these ways to receive money:

  • Cash over the counter: at any UBL branch, without a UBL account. Bring the remittance reference number and your original CNIC (computerised national identity card). UBL’s remittance services page gives the limit as up to Rs1,000,000, while its FAQ says the maximum is Rs600,000; ask the branch before you go. UBL says biometric verification is needed for Rs500,000 and above.
  • UBL account transfer: same-day credit, free of charge. UBL asks for the branch code and full account number, or the 24-digit IBAN.
  • Other banks: instant credit through IBFT (Inter Bank Funds Transfer) or same-day credit through PRISM/RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement), free of charge. UBL says a 24-digit IBAN is preferred.
  • UBL Omni Dukaan: collect from selected UBL Omni agents.

For money sent to an account, UBL says you can check with your CNIC number through the toll-free line 0800-82598, or through the UBL app, internet banking or SMS alerts. Warning UBL says: “We’ll never ask for your Digital App or Online Banking passwords, PINs (including OTP) or card details.” It also says its official social media accounts carry a verified tick, and warns of accounts imitating the bank. Never reveal your login name, password or secret word to anyone, including UBL employees. If you think someone has your password, call UBL on 021-111-825-888 at once.

No. The SWIFT code identifies UBL; your IBAN identifies your account. Your IBAN contains UNIL, the first four letters of the SWIFT code.

Does UBL charge to receive a home remittance?

UBL says its home remittance services come without additional charges, and lists account transfers as free of charge. The sender’s bank or money transfer company may charge its own fees.
