How to open an Easypaisa account

Short answer Install the easypaisa app, enter your mobile number, your CNIC (Computerised National Identity Card) number and its date of issue, confirm the OTP (one-time password), accept the terms and create a 5-digit PIN. Without the app, dial *786# on a Telenor SIM or *2262# on Jazz, Zong or Ufone. Easypaisa says there is no charge and no documentation beyond a valid CNIC and your mobile number. You can have one Easypaisa account per CNIC. To raise your limits, you upgrade in the app with a biometric scan of both hands.

Open an account in the app

Easypaisa’s FAQ gives these steps:

  1. Download the easypaisa app from Google Play, the App Store or Huawei AppGallery. The app’s publisher is Easypaisa Bank Limited.
  2. Open the app.
  3. Enter your mobile number and tap Next.
  4. Enter your CNIC number and the date of issue printed on your CNIC, then tap Register.
  5. Wait while the OTP is fetched automatically.
  6. Read and accept the terms and conditions.
  7. Create your 5-digit PIN. Your account is ready.

Easypaisa says you can open an account “on any network (Jazz, Ufone, Zong, Telenor) on any number”. You need the SIM with you: “You will need your mobile number to fetch the OTP otherwise you cannot create your account.”

Open an account without the app (USSD)

Easypaisa says: “If you can’t install the app on your mobile, you can also dial our USSD strings to create your easypaisa account.”

*2262# is also the code of SBP’s Asaan Mobile Account scheme, which the PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) says lets you open a mobile banking account “from any mobile phone … using a SIM of any mobile operator”. More codes: Easypaisa codes.

What you need

  • A valid CNIC. “No, easypaisa can only be created with a valid CNIC to verify your identification.” An expired CNIC is not accepted: “You can renew your CNIC to create the account.”
  • Your mobile number, for the OTP.
  • Nothing else. Easypaisa says: “There’s no documentation required. All you have to do is sign-up with your CNIC and phone number.”

The account name comes from your CNIC and cannot be changed. Easypaisa allows one account per mobile number and “one easypaisa mobile account on 1 CNIC”. If an account already exists on your CNIC, Easypaisa says to call the helpline to get verified so the account can be migrated.

Biometric verification and account levels

Easypaisa accounts have levels, and your limits depend on your level. Easypaisa’s FAQ says your daily sending limit “depends on your account level which you can change through verification”.

Upgrading with biometrics. Easypaisa says: “tap on your profile picture of easypaisa app and tap on “Account Level”. Tap on “Upgrade your Account” and then scan your left and right hand. Fill your details and tap on “Upgrade”.” Its schedule of charges lists “In-App BVS from Level-0 to Level-1 Rs. 99 on each submission”. BVS is the biometric verification system, a fingerprint check against NADRA’s records.

Asaan Digital Account. Easypaisa’s page for this upgrade promises “an enhanced transaction limit of up to PKR 10 lacs” (Rs1,000,000) and lists the steps: in the app, “My Account” › “Account Level” › “Upgrade Your Account”, then personal information, additional information, terms and conditions and a selfie. The schedule charges “Rs. 75 on each submission” to upgrade from Level 1. The page does not say whether Rs1,000,000 is a daily, monthly or balance limit.

The limits themselves are not published. Easypaisa’s FAQ explains daily, monthly and yearly sending and receiving limits only in general terms, and gives no figures for Level 0 or Level 1. Its Google Play listing mentions a “Monthly Account limit of up to Rs. 25 lakh” without naming the level. Figures on blogs are not from Easypaisa, so we don’t repeat them.

SBP’s rules for branchless accounts

An Easypaisa mobile account is a branchless banking account. The State Bank of Pakistan’s Consolidated Customer Onboarding Framework (BPRD Circular No. 01 of 2025, July 25, 2025) sets these rules for such accounts:

  • Limits: PKR 100,000 a day and PKR 300,000 a month, applied separately to credits and debits, with a maximum credit balance of PKR 1,000,000. There is no daily credit limit for foreign inward remittances. SBP says no charges may be imposed for breaching a limit.
  • One account per operator: “an individual can open only one branchless banking account with one branchless banking operator.”
  • Remote opening: biometric verification comes first. If that is not possible, the provider checks your CNIC with NADRA’s Verisys, confirms that your CNIC and mobile number are paired, and sends an OTP or calls you back. If both fail, the account can be opened with a debit block until you are verified.
  • Asaan Mobile Accounts: opened “through USSD channel” and “debit-blocked until successful BV or alternate verification mechanism in genuine cases be complied”.

These are SBP’s ceilings for the account type. Easypaisa has not published which of its levels uses them.

Fees

Easypaisa says: “There are no charges for creating easypaisa account. You can sign-up for free.” Its branchless schedule of charges lists “New Mobile Account Opening … Rs. 0.00”. The schedule Easypaisa showed on September 28, 2026 is headed “April 2026 to June 2026”; no July–September edition was posted.

Other charges in the same schedule include Rs1 per USSD transaction (“Platform Fee (USSD)”) and Rs35 for an ATM withdrawal (free at Easypaisa Bank branch ATMs). For transfers, see IBFT and Raast.

After you open the account

  • Your account number is your mobile number. Your IBAN is in the app; see Easypaisa IBAN.
  • Dormancy: Easypaisa says an account with no activity for 90 days turns dormant, and a deposit makes it active again.
  • OTP limits: “You have the option to get OTP 3 times in a day.” If it doesn’t arrive, call the helpline.

Warning Easypaisa says: “whenever someone calls you, or in any means tries to ask you your OTP, always remember, it’s a FRAUDSTER, a Pin Chor! Do not talk to them or share any details, and inform easypaisa on our helpline number, 3737, immediately.” It also says: “Do not share your PIN with anyone under any circumstances.”
