How to open a JazzCash account

Short answer Download the JazzCash app and follow the sign-up: your mobile number, the OTP (one-time password), your personal details, a new MPIN and biometric verification. JazzCash says you can do this “on any mobile network”, and that the account is created after NADRA verifies you. You can’t make transactions for the first 2 hours. JazzCash’s terms say an account can also be opened by USSD with *786#, but its current pages give no USSD steps; the only official steps, from 2019, were for Jazz and Warid numbers. You need a CNIC (Computerised National Identity Card) and a SIM registered in your name.

At a glance

Open an account in the app

JazzCash’s account page says: “Download the App and follow the guided Sign-Up process by entering your Number, OTP, Personal details, MPIN, and Biometric Verification.” In order:

  1. Download the JazzCash app.
  2. Enter your mobile number.
  3. Enter the OTP sent to that number.
  4. Enter your personal details.
  5. Create your MPIN, the PIN you use to approve transactions.
  6. Complete biometric verification.

JazzCash says: “Account will be created after successful verification from NADRA. You will not be able to perform transactions for the first 2 hours after account creation, this is a security measure to protect users and prevent fraudulent transactions.”

You can use any network. JazzCash’s page says: “Create your JazzCash account now in few easy steps, on any mobile network.”

Open an account by USSD

JazzCash’s terms say its sign-up offer “is valid for customers who create a new JazzCash account using *USSD (786#) or the JazzCash Mobile App”, so a USSD sign-up exists. JazzCash’s current pages do not give the steps or say which networks it works on.

The only official steps we found are in a JazzCash Facebook post from 2019: “dial *786# from your Jazz/Warid number and then enter your CNIC issuance date to register for JazzCash Mobile Account.” For Zong, Ufone and Telenor SIMs, JazzCash names only the app. See JazzCash codes.

What you need

  • A CNIC. NADRA verifies your identity during sign-up. For the Women Account, JazzCash says: “Only a valid CNIC is required.”
  • A SIM in your own name. JazzCash’s terms say the customer must be “a GSM mobile user registered with Jazzcash which must be in the name of the Customer as appearing on the CNIC”.
  • Your fingerprints, for biometric verification. JazzCash says: “Biometric verification is required to verify your identity with NADRA and comply with SBP regulatory requirements.”

Ages 12 to 17: NextGen Account. JazzCash says anyone aged 12 to 17 “with a valid B-Form or SNIC issued by NADRA” can open a NextGen Account in the app. It must be linked to a parent or guardian who has a verified JazzCash account, and the parent or guardian must consent. Its limits are “based on L-1 account level”. At 18 it can be upgraded to a regular account with biometrics. JazzCash says opening one is “free of charge”.

Account types and upgrades

JazzCash says you can upgrade “anytime through the JazzCash app by completing the required verification or documentation”, with no branch visit:

  • Asaan Digital Account: higher limits; JazzCash says upgrades “are typically instant”.
  • Digital Account: for higher limits again; needs proof of income, and JazzCash says it “may take up to 2 working days”.
  • Freelance Digital Account: for receiving international freelance payments.
  • Asaan Digital Remittance Account: for receiving home remittances from abroad.
  • Women Account: JazzCash says opening or upgrading is “completely free”.

Account limits

JazzCash’s terms publish these limits, in rupees. JazzCash says they apply to the account level “regardless of whatever channel is used”.

A second JazzCash table, in its international remittance section, differs in three places:

  • Level 1 yearly limit: Rs3,600,000 in the terms, Rs300,000 in the second table.
  • Level 1 maximum balance: Rs1,000,000 in the terms, Rs3,000,000 in the second table.
  • Freelance Digital Account daily debit: Rs1,400,000 in the terms, Rs750,000 in the second table.

JazzCash does not say which table is current. Its terms say the limits “can be extended” and that the call centre can give “the updated information for products and limits”. JazzCash also caps JazzCash-to-JazzCash transfers at five sent and five received a day.

SBP’s rules for branchless accounts

A JazzCash mobile account is a branchless banking account run by Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited. The State Bank of Pakistan’s Consolidated Customer Onboarding Framework (BPRD Circular No. 01 of 2025, July 25, 2025) sets these rules:

  • Branchless account limits: PKR 100,000 a day and PKR 300,000 a month, applied separately to credits and debits, with a maximum credit balance of PKR 1,000,000. There is no daily credit limit for foreign inward remittances. These match JazzCash’s Level 1 figures in its terms.
  • Asaan Account limits: a maximum credit balance of PKR 3,000,000 and debits of PKR 1,000,000 a month, the same as JazzCash’s Asaan Digital Account row. That comparison is ours; SBP does not name JazzCash.
  • One account per operator: “an individual can open only one branchless banking account with one branchless banking operator.”
  • Remote opening: biometric verification comes first. If that is not possible, the provider checks your CNIC with NADRA’s Verisys, confirms your CNIC and mobile number are paired, and sends an OTP or calls you back. If both fail, the account can be opened with a debit block until you are verified.

JazzCash’s terms still list Level 0. Neither JazzCash nor SBP says how Level 0 fits the 2025 framework.

Fees

Mobilink Microfinance Bank’s branchless schedule of charges for July 1 to September 30, 2026 lists “In App BVS charges Rs 100” for in-app biometric verification (BVS). It also lists a fee for “M-Wallet Registration”, but in the copy we could read, the fee column is not aligned with the row labels, so we don’t quote a figure. JazzCash’s own pages say the NextGen and Women accounts are free to open.

The same schedule charges Rs1 per transaction on the USSD platform and Rs1 per transaction on the app platform, and an inactivity fee of Rs100 a month after 12 months with no activity. This schedule ends on September 30, 2026; check JazzCash’s schedule of charges ↗ for the next one. For transfers, see IBFT and Raast.

Warning JazzCash says: “JazzCash will never ask for your PIN, OTP, or password. If you receive a suspicious call or message, report it immediately on helpline 4444.” From a network other than Jazz, report fraud on 111-124-444. JazzCash’s 2-hour wait after sign-up is, in its words, “a security measure to protect users and prevent fraudulent transactions”.
