UBL IBAN: how to get yours

Short answer A UBL IBAN is 24 characters and contains the bank code UNIL after PK and two check digits. UBL says your IBAN is on your bank statement, and that you can also get it from your branch or the UBL Contact Center on 021-111-825-888. UBL also has an online IBAN Converter ↗.

How to get your UBL IBAN

UBL publishes these ways.

1. Your bank statement. UBL says: “You will also see your corresponding IBAN on your bank statement”. It also says it sends customers the IBAN for every account they hold.

2. Your branch. UBL says you can “retrieve your IBAN from your Branch”.

3. The UBL Contact Center. Call 021-111-825-888 (from abroad, +9221111825888).

4. UBL’s IBAN Converter. UBL’s website has an IBAN Converter ↗ that converts an account number into an IBAN, and an IBAN back into an account number. Use only this address on ubldigital.com.

UBL does not publish steps for finding your IBAN in the UBL Digital App or through its WhatsApp service, UBL Digital Buddy. Steps you may see on blogs are not confirmed by UBL, so we don’t repeat them.

If you have more than one UBL account, each has its own IBAN. UBL says: “If you have multiple bank accounts, you will require an IBAN for each one.”

Former Silkbank customers

Silkbank was amalgamated with UBL with effect from September 1, 2025. UBL says former Silkbank customers keep their account number, but “The IBAN will change to reflect UBL prefix.” The new UBL IBAN is in the Welcome Letter, or you can generate it on UBL’s website. Give senders and billers the new IBAN, not the old Silkbank one.

What a UBL IBAN looks like

UBL explains its IBAN this way:

UBL’s own example: existing account number 094910113152 gives the IBAN PK-16-UNIL-01-12-094910113152. UBL writes it with dashes; an IBAN is written without them. This is the bank’s sample, not a real account. When we ran the sample through the standard IBAN check, it did not pass, so our checker will mark it invalid. Use it only to see the layout.

The sample account number has 12 digits, while the IBAN’s account part has 16. UBL does not explain the extra digits (01-12 in its sample), so we don’t guess. Take your own IBAN from your statement, branch, Contact Center or the IBAN Converter rather than building it yourself.

Check an IBAN before you share it

Paste an IBAN into our IBAN checker to see whether it is valid. It only validates an IBAN; it does not create one.

UBL says banks “will not process and will reject” transfers to IBAN countries that do not carry a valid IBAN, so check yours before you send it.

Using your IBAN to receive money

UBL says the IBAN is used for both local and international transfers, and that there is “no additional charge for using IBAN other than our normal transaction processing fees”. Your existing account number stays valid.

For a home remittance into your account, UBL’s remittance FAQ says to give the sender your account title, your account number with branch code or IBAN, and the bank name. For a transfer from another country, the sender also needs UBL’s SWIFT code: see UBL SWIFT code and receiving money from abroad.

Warning UBL says: “We’ll never ask for your Digital App or Online Banking passwords, PINs (including OTP) or card details.” Your IBAN is safe to share with a sender; your passwords, PINs and card details are not. UBL also says its official social media accounts carry a verified tick, and warns about accounts imitating the bank.

Is the UBL IBAN the same as the account number?

No. UBL says the IBAN is a new format for your existing account number, which stays valid. Give a sender the full IBAN.

My account was with Silkbank. Has my IBAN changed?

Yes. UBL says former Silkbank customers keep their account number but get a new IBAN with the UBL prefix, sent in the Welcome Letter.

Is the IBAN the same as the SWIFT code?

No. UBL’s SWIFT code, UNILPKKA, identifies the bank; your IBAN identifies your account.
